Family Visitors Make for a Great Week

For the past week, my Mom and Gordon were out in California visiting us and taking a well-deserved vacation. The weather was absolutely beautiful for them, especially in March, as it was between 75 and 85 degrees while they were here. We had a great time, and Mom and Gordon got to see obnoxious amounts of touristic stuff in the course of a week.

In the past week, Mom and Gordon got to see San Francisco and eat large amounts of crab, taste wine and picnic in Napa, tour the Monterey Bay Aquarium, go whale watching, drive down scenic Highway 1 to Big Sur, walk the streets of Old Sacramento, ride Harleys through some of California's wine and farm country, shop at some fun outlet stores, and taste sushi for the first time.

Although we had a lot of fun, there were definitely some casualties. Apparently our dogs don't behave as nicely as they should when we leave the house. Throughout the course of the week, Mom lost 3 pairs of underwear, a box of chocolate candies, and cleaned up overthrown garbage at least 3 times! If Gordon sends us the pictures, I'll definitely post some nice casualty shots.

Jamie and I got some new ideas while they were here, too. We decided that we need to own a pair of motorcycles since we had so much fun riding the bikes for a day. I have a glorious picture in my head of Jamie and I riding our matching Harleys to work in the morning and meeting up to ride them home in the afternoon. I think that much of our stress could be reduced if we got to ride to work every day in style.

All in all, it was a fantastic week. It makes me wish that we could have all of this beautiful weather and scenery a bit closer to home because there's nothing in the world like hanging out with great family and friends.
